Frequently Asked Questions
Is a removable cover enough to protect orthopedic foam from urine?
Yes if it includes a true waterproof layer (like TPU) and has well-stitched seams and a secure closure. Removable machine-washable covers without a waterproof membrane can protect against hair and dirt but won’t stop liquids from reaching foam.
Can I machine-wash waterproof covers without damaging the waterproof layer?
Most waterproof covers with TPU coatings can be washed on gentle cycles with cold water and tumble-dried low, but always follow the product care label. Avoid high heat and harsh bleach agents which can degrade coatings over time.
How do I stop a cover from sliding on the mattress?
Look for anti-slip backing or silicone dot patterns, choose a snug fit sized for your mattress, and consider using elastic straps or non-slip underlay pads. A cover with a fitted skirt or zipper that encloses the mattress will shift less.
